The Desert Dance

The Gypsy Chicks
Students and professionals alike came
together for our Annual end of year show. We were really lucky this year
to have lined up a really diverse range of dancers, and of course the
cherry on top was the very fabulous Trisnasari! What a dancer! Poise,
grace and a real gypsy spirit. Trisnasari captivated the audience with
graceful movements, precise hip work and that fabulous smile. We all
hope she will come and visit us again soon.

Our Bitty Bellies, the Under 7's troupe
lead by Luna, were as cute as ever. They did a fabulous job, except
maybe not so many spins next time as one them developed quite a wobble,
but that only seem to delight the audience more. Next came the Belly
Buddies who smiled and really got into the spirit of things as they
moved to Michael Jackson’s “Beat It”. Rita followed with a lively
Spanish number which had the audience clapping along. Lesley looked
stunning in her tribal costume, overflowing with tassels, as she
performed a sword dance. Luna shimmied to the wonderful voice of George
Abdo (Luna has shimmies to die for). Mishka was all grace as she glided
around the room with an undulating torso and elegant arms. Her
performance was topped off with a vibrant drum. The Desert Sirens were
as funky as ever. Always a popular act, they strutted their stuff to a
Mezdeke number. Last but not least, Sahara was her usual bubbly self and
of course is a very talented dancer. Each performer was as unique as the
next and all were a pleasure to watch!

The last performers for the evening were the girls from
my advanced class, and although I may be slightly biased I think they
did a wonderful job. The thing I enjoyed most was watching how they are
now starting to relax on stage. This is allowing their own style to
flourish. You all looked fabulous!
A big thank you to all those girls that performed. You
all made my job (as the organizer) a easy one.
